Mom’s Dressing began as a homemade garlic and cilantro sauce created from my mother-in-law’s family recipe from Venezuela. What started as a sauce served with our arepas at I Love Pig quickly became one of the most loved products in our community. Customers began asking to take it home, and little by little, it became a staple on many family tables across Michigan.
Today, we are ready to take the next step: bringing Mom’s Dressing into local supermarkets and specialty stores so more families can enjoy authentic Latin flavor in their everyday meals.
We have already completed major steps toward this goal. We obtained the required licensing to legally sell the sauce in retail stores, invested in professional packaging, and developed branded containers ready for distribution. The final piece we need is a date coding machine that prints production and expiration dates on each package, allowing us to scale safely and meet retail requirements.
This idea is much bigger than a sauce. It is about preserving culture, sharing family traditions, and creating economic opportunities for immigrant women in our community. As production grows, we plan to hire more Latina women who often face language barriers and struggle to find stable employment opportunities.
Mom’s Dressing represents the story of a family recipe passed from one generation to another, transformed into a product that connects cultures and brings people together through food.
