About this idea

BrewClear helps small manufacturers—starting with breweries, wineries, and distilleries—manage wastewater responsibly. These businesses produce wastewater containing sugars, yeast, cleaning chemicals, oils, and solid material. If it is released without proper monitoring, it can overload local treatment plants, harm rivers and groundwater, and lead to fines or higher sewer charges.
Today, wastewater compliance is often managed through scattered lab reports, spreadsheets, emails, permit documents, and calendar reminders. Small businesses may not have a full-time environmental expert, so problems can remain hidden until a report is submitted or an unexpected bill arrives.
BrewClear brings this information into one easy-to-use workspace. It helps users understand which wastewater rules apply, reads monitoring results, compares them with local permit limits, tracks reporting deadlines, identifies missing information, and warns users when readings are too high or moving in the wrong direction. It can also estimate possible extra sewer charges and prepare draft reports, emails, and corrective-action plans for a person to review.
The environmental impact is cleaner water and better protection for public treatment systems. Early warnings give businesses time to fix issues before harmful wastewater reaches the system. The business impact is also significant: fewer preventable violations, reduced risk of surprise charges, less paperwork, and more time for owners to focus on running their operations. Environmental consultants can manage several clients from one dashboard and quickly see which facility needs attention.
BrewClear is designed to expand to different locations because wastewater limits and reporting rules can be added for each state or local authority. This could eventually help many types of small manufacturers that cannot afford complex enterprise software.
BrewClear is currently a working beta, so its biggest impact is still potential rather than proven at scale.
